INNISFREE Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask Hydrating (BLUE) Review

Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask Hydrating (Blue)

Summer in the Philippines, especially in my hometown GenSan (also known as GenSun), can be very hot and dry.  Spending even just a few seconds under the sun can already cause you sun burn and skin damage that will last a lifetime! P.S. this is not an exaggeration.

Since summer started, I also started a new skin care routine that includes everything that can give my face and body hydration. And I’m so glad that this routine includes the Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask Hydrating (Blue).  Check out the product details below and why I love it:

Why I Love INNISFREE JEJU VOLCANIC COLOR CLAY MASK

1.       It helps hydrate your skin

Surprise! Surprise! The Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask Hydrating (Blue) actually gets the job done. Its purpose is to hydrate your skin and it does. It also gives your face instant moisture which is really great. Although, I still recommend that you use a moisturizer, or in my case a night cream, right after using this.

2.       It balances facial oil

The day after I used this mask, I’ve noticed my facial oil factory lying-low for quite some time. This is really good! It lessens your oil but still moisturizes your face and keeps your face from being flaky from the hot weather.

3.       The Neat Packaging

I love Innisfree’s overall branding. They are neat and simple but still attractive. I think as a beauty brand, you really should keep your product designs as minimalist as possible and just focus on the how good your product is. Less is always more.

4.       It’s Skin-Friendly

I’ve actually read from another review that the Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask Hydrating (Blue) has a skin-friendly formulation that you can use this even up to 3-4 times per week unlike other masks. I haven’t tried using this four times a week yet but I’m planning to. I’ll give you an update as soon as I did.

5.       It comes off easily

Yes, you’ve read that right. The Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask Hydrating (Blue) is not your typical colored clay mask that stays too long on your face even after you have washed it. One wash is enough (although I recommend washing twice just to make sure you get everything off).

Deal Breakers

1.       The Texture

I don’t like the texture. I know that it has a water gel clay texture but the texture is not any different from other clay masks. I had a hard time spreading the product on my face.

Tip:

If you are having a hard time applying a clay mask on your face, I recommend using a foundation brush. It will make it easier for you to spread the product and the

2.       The Smell

I’ve noticed this the first time that I used it. The Innisfree Jeju Volcanic Color Clay Mask Hydrating (Blue) smells a little pungent. It resembles slightly the smell of poster paint, although not that strong.

I can take the smell since you only have to leave this on your face for 10 minutes. However, I don’t recommend this for people who have very sensitive nose.

OVERALL VERDICT

I like the product very much since it delivers what it promises: hydrating your face.

BAKE Cheese Tart: A Must-try of Every Foodie

During my trip to Japan last 2017, I was able to indulge in one of their famous delicacies, the cheese tart.

For someone who has a sweet tooth, I can never forget the heavenly taste of that cheese tart. One bite and I was surely hooked. Good thing that these goodies already made their way to the Philippines and I happen to passed by BAKE Cheese Tart at The Podium after my meeting.

BAKE Cheese Tart opened its door in the Philippines almost two years ago. They opened their first branch at The Podium and in less than a month, opened their second branch at PowerPlant Mall Rockwell.

BAKE Cheese Tart offers freshly baked cheese tart using four types of cheese - three from Hokkaido and one from France.  This unique cheese combination plus the richness and freshness of all ingredients made this brand a crowd's favorite. They have actually been coined as the "Best Cheese Tart Ever". Imagine, they are serving more than 35 million cheese tarts in a year!

cheese tart

PRICE

Each BAKE Cheese Tart is sold at Php 95 while for a box of 6 pcs is at Php540

TASTE

Heavenly! Every bite is just amazing. I love it! The sweet and salty blends perfectly well. I also love the tart crust. It is also something that you will crave for more. Di sya nakakaumay!

I've also noticed that the Japanese had already perfected the art of creating cheese tarts as this cheese tart almost tasted like the famous Pablo's. Actually, this tasted better than Pablo's. (P.S. I recently ate Pablo's at BGC just to compare.)

PACKAGING

So sosyal! Yes, their paper bag looks like you bought something from MAC or any imported beauty brand. Each cheese tart is also carefully packaged in a two-layer box, making sure not to ruin the masterpiece.

STORE LOOK

They are going for a minimalistic look and I like it. It looks so clean and it doesn't distract you from buying their product.

VERDICT

Two thumps up for the taste! This is definitely a must-try for foodies. However, it is kinda expensive for me. Maybe I'll buy this again the next time I'll be at The Podium but not any time soon.

Look at that creamy filling

You can visit BAKE Cheese Tart at The Podium, 18 ADB Ave, Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong, 1550 Metro Manila. They are open from 10am - 10pm.

BEAUTY REVIEW: JUMISO RICH NOURISHMENT SHEET MASK

I got a pack of Jumiso RichNourishment Sheet Mask from my sister, Veronica, when she went home last February. I’m not totally familiar with this KBeauty brand so I was not really keen on using it. However, my sister told me that this is a really good brand and that I should try it as soon as possible.

Well, I didn’t. I mean, I wasn’t able to because I forgot that I have this in my stash.

Fast forward to the last week of March and my skin can already feel the summer heat. My face really felt so rough and dry these past few days and it really bothered me. So I decided to give this Jumiso HelloSkin Rich Nourishment Sheet Mask a try. And boy, was I so happy!

ABOUT JUMISO HELLO SKIN RICH NOURISHMENT SHEET MASK

CLAIM TO FAME: A nutrient-rich mask fortified with 2 fermented ingredients to boost skin health from the inside out (taken from the back of the pack, verbatim)

FAST FACTS: Infused with Korean herbs and black ginseng extract to revitalize skin; leaves a plump and youthful look; supercharged with Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate and Lactobacillus Ferment to deliver amino acids, antioxidants, and vitamins to skin; firms and boosts elasticity with special ceramide complex; 100% mild cotton yarn sheet mask adheres to skin perfectly to promote maximum absorption while minimizing skin damage. (taken from the back of the pack, verbatim)

PERFECT FOR: Nourishing aging skin

HOW TO USE:
Open the pack and pull out the mask with the mesh. Carefully unfold the mask with the mesh and fit it over your face (Check out my video on how I did this). Leave it on and relax (grab a book or watch TV!) for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove the sheet mask. Gently pat the essence onto skin for maximum effect.

WHY I LOVE JUMISO HelloSkin Rich Nourishment Sheet Mask

1) Easily hydrates face in seconds

My favorite part of using a sheet mask is the moment that you place it on your face and you can instantly feel the cooling sensation of the sheet mask. It’s like magic! And the Jumiso HelloSkin Rich Nourishment Sheet Mask does this! Just seconds after applying it on my face, I felt the sheet mask worked its magic and I love it.

2) No sticky residue afterwards

After 20 minutes of pure relaxation, I took off the sheet mask and felt great. It didn’t feel sticky or oily. I have tried other sheet masks before that leaves a sticky residue after taking it off and my face feels heavy.  Good thing, Jumiso Rich Nourishment Sheet Mask will just leave your face feeling cool, fresh and smooth that you can use this even in the morning.

3) It comes with mesh liner

The sheet mask also came with a mesh which makes it very convenient. The mesh liner helps you apply the sheet mask without worrying that you may rip it or crumple it. I have experiences with other sheet masks ripping and this can be avoided with the use of the mesh. It is also easier to put it on your face with the mesh.

4) Lots of excess liquid

I love the fact that the Jumiso Rich Nourishment Sheet Mask  is very generous when it comes to the amount of liquid of their sheet masks. I’ve read similar reviews that all of Jumiso’s sheet masks are heavily soaked in their liquid formula. This is great news since I ended up lathering my neck, arms and feet with this excess liquid.

This is how I look like with a sheet mask. Hello Glasses!

There you have it, Beauties! Hope this helps!

Have you tried Jumiso Rich Nourishment Sheet Mask too? Let me know your thoughts at the comment section.

Smart Habits to Help You Manage PMS Symptoms

Red days have always been slow days for me.  The uncomfortable feeling you get of literally excreting blood from your body, the careful movements you have to make just to avoid having a "tagos" or stain on your pants, and the worst of them all, PMS.

While there’s no single cause of PMS and it’s a combination of many different factors from a low level of the hormone serotonin, thyroid dysfunction, poor or imbalanced nutrition, stress, environmental pollution, and lack of sleep, it’s a condition that reveals an imbalance in the body.

Pre-Menstrual Syndrome or (PMS) occurs during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle, a naturally occurring period immediately after an egg is released from the ovary and lasts from day 14 through day 28 of a normal menstrual cycle. While this is the duration where terrible mood swings, irritability, bloating, and other hosts of unpleasant physical manifestations happens, there are ways to manage PMS and making it less disruptive with good healthy habits as the beginning.

Diet

·              Eat leafy greens and fruits. Go for the red, orange, greens and yellows! These add vitamins and minerals into your diet and this is exactly what your body needs. Take a little bit of the bad stuff and take good food in.

·              Water is crucial. If you are not a fan of water, flavored water will do but keep it natural. Lemons, limes, and cucumber slices are great. It reduces bloating and aids in digestion

·              Calcium helps. Yogurt, milk, soy products, and low-fat cheese are all rich in calcium and can reduce PMS symptoms.

·              You need Vitamin D. Vitamin D is a natural supplement that boosts the immune system helping you to fight the pain. It’s naturally found in foods like sardines, oysters, and salmon.

·              Have nuts or go nuts! Skip the chips and snack on unsalted nuts instead. Nuts make you feel full for a longer time decreasing your need to eat more within the day. This makes you feel less bloated.

·              Complex carbs stabilized your mood. Mood swings hurt relationships and you can definitely manage your mood swings to make you feel relaxed and in control. It also manages your cravings (and as you know, cravings make us go crazy too!). Try sweet potatoes, squash, pumpkin, lentils, potatoes, and unprocessed oats.

·              Take iron to fight anemia. You lose blood every month and you need to replenish that to avoid anemia. Lean, red meat is rich in iron. Just be sure to cut away the fat before cooking.

Exercise

·              Go for a walk. Walking is a low-intensity exercise that uses your extra energy without making you exhausted and prompts you to breathe in more air, refreshing your body system. No wonder people like walking when they want to think. Walking is not tiring, it is actually relaxing!

·              Yoga and stretching help! Make yoga your relief therapy and you’ll be surprised with how calm and relaxed you will be. Some say it’s nice to just be lazy on your red days but if you’re feeling bloated, being stagnant won’t help. You have to do the flow to improve your body’s blood circulation because yoga is incredibly soothing for cramps and hormone-induced moodiness.

Manage Stress

·              We need a little help from our friends. Friends always make us feel better and having them around when your PMSing offers a little comfort. Do activities together even if it’s as simple as watching a movie or playing game boards.

·              Hang out with your special someone. Our reproductive years last about 2.5 decades of our life. It is important to share with him how you feel when you have your period for him to better understand you. By explaining what you feel and how you feel (even if the mood swings and sudden meltdowns are hard to explain), he’ll be able to at least help you by listening and performing some easy tasks.

·              Write a journal and take time to enjoy activities that you enjoy. And while you’re at it, calendar your period so you know when to expect to have PMS again.

While it may seem that you’ll need medication in order to make PMS a whole lot easier for you, remember that balancing of hormones might be more effective instead of psychoactive drugs. Incorrect treatment leads to frustration and distress – both of which can be avoided by playing it right.

When it comes to your sanitary pad, choose something that will make you feel lighter and a whole lot better! Jeunesse Anion is enhanced w/ anion strip that helps to reduce odor and bacteria so you can look forward to longer hours of freshness without the worries.  Check out the different variants and see what fits your flow:

5 Things You Didn't Know about Nature Republic Snail Solution Skin Booster

When we visited Korea last year, it opened me to a whole new world of KBeauty. Yes, I know some Korean skin care and beauty brands such as The FaceShop, SkinFood, and Etude House but that stops there. But when you are in the middle of Myeongdong, the options are limitless! Everywhere you looked at, there's a beauty shop packed with people, both Koreans and tourists.

One of the shops that I have visited there was Nature Republic.

I have never heard of Nature Republic before my trip but they have a big SALE sign outside of their store so and my travel buddies went in.

I bought a Nature Republic Blush On and a couple of Gel Nail polishes then got tons of freebies. And those freebies include two (2) sample sizes of a Nature Republic Snail Solution Skin Booster.

product photo

NATURE REPUBLIC Snail Solution Skin Booster

According to NATURE REPUBLIC's website, the Snail Solution is an 'intensive skin care line that contains the secretion filtrate of snails obtained from pristine areas'.  It helps your skin look healthy and radiant as it gives back life to stressed-out skin. It is 90% snail secretion filtrate and contains Lecithin that helps lessen the appearance of fine lines.

FIRST IMPRESSION

The Sample that I got

Snail solution, seriously??? I thought, what was happening to the world? Things are getting weirder and weirder. But I guess it was worth a try.

Was I excited? Honestly, no.

I immediately Googled it and found out about the amazing benefits our skin can get from snail solution. :)

5 Things You Didn't Know about Nature Republic Snail Solution Skin Booster

1.  Snail filtrate has amazing benefits

Snail filtrate is the holy grail of KBeauty! It contains hyaluronic acid, proteoglycans, glycoprotein, , and antimicrobial and copper peptides which when combined, is your best defense against premature aging. It removes dead skin cells, making it an excellent exfoliant, while it stimulate the renewal of skin cells. It helps lessen the appearances of acne scars, wrinkles, and stretch marks.

Acne scars? Check. Wrinkles? Check. Stretch Marks? Check. I got these three! So excited to see the results.

Oh, it also has whitening effects!

2. It is not slime-y and smells good

It looks slime-y, yes, but it doesn't feel like it when you apply it on your skin.  The first time I have applied this, I was actually shocked at how lightweight it feels and it doesn't leave any sticky residue on my face and it leaves you with a refreshing feeling.

3. It has Lecithin as another powerful ingredient

Aside from its main ingredient, the snail filtrate, NATURE REPUBLIC Snail Solution Skin Booster also contains Lecithin, a substance made of fatty acids naturally found in the tissues of your body. For skin care products, Lecithin is extracted from soy beans.

Lecithin helps make your skin feel smooth by re-hydrating your skin. It also acts as a moisturizer, bringing back to life dry and damaged skin. It has antioxidants which makes your skin glowing and flawless.  Studies also show that it can help cure eczema and worst acne.

Did this one sold you out?

4. Nature Republic Snail Solution Skin Booster will leave your skin feeling supple and smooth

Yes, you've read that right! I love the feeling I get after applying this product. I also love the fact that that feeling is still there when I woke up in the morning. My skin feels so smooth and supple that I can't stop myself from touching my face.

I will also confess something to you guys. The first time I've tried this product, I can literally feel my face stretch! No kidding. It was so good to feel the product working its magic on my face.

5. Nature Republic Snail Solution Skin Booster is now available in the Philippines!

No need to go to Korea to try this product. You can always visit their shops located all over the Metro. Check out NATURE REPUBLIC website for their store locations. Or, you can also visit our favorite KBeauty shop, ALTHEA, and check out this awesome find.

My Results (So far)

So I have actively been using this product for 10 days now and I can say that I already see and feel the difference. Like I have mentioned above, my skin now feels smoother and more supple. I also love how I still feel the product stretching my skin every time I apply it.

Although I really can't see any difference right now, I have decided to continue using this and will buy a full version of this.

Here's my photo taken 10 days after I started using this product. Yes, the pores are still there. Hahaha

P.S. Camera used was from my S8+ camera phone and both photos don't have filter applied to them.

The Great Gensan PhotoWalk

The Sox Bloggers (SoCSKSarGen) and Sox Local Guides, under the leadership of Avel Manansala of GenSantos.com, spearheaded "The Great Gensan PhotoWalk" last July 09, 2017, Sunday. The aim of this event was to add updated photos of the historic places in General Santos City in Google Maps, hoping that these photos and reviews will help people get to know the places more.

What is a PhotoWalk?

A PhotoWalk is an activity done by bloggers, photographers and local guides.  They gather and walk around a place or community and take photos of interesting subjects.  The subjects of a photowalk can be anything: an interesting building or structure, an ordinary person sitting at the park, or people crossing the street.  It is the photographer's sole discretion on what story to capture during this activity.  During The Great Gensan PhotoWalk, we were asked to take photos of some of the historical places in Gensan and post it as a contribution on Google Maps.

My First PhotoWalk Experience

This was my first ever photowalk experience and I am so glad that I joined this.  I've been a resident of Gensan my entire lifetime but I never got to appreciate these than I did during this activity.  Being with this group also made the walk less tiring and more fun.

Here are some of my snapshots:

Shooting architectural structures can be quiet tricky.  Good thing I have my friend, The Rain Ramas, with me during this photowalk.  He gave me tips on how to capture the essence of a building and giving it the justice that it deserves.  My photos definitely improved when I applied his tips but they were still a far-cry from the photos that he was producing. Hahaha

The SOX Local Guides

photowalk
The Local Guides Bingo Game
The photowalk commenced with a get-together at Jollibee RD Plaza where the winners of the Local Guides Game were awarded.  We took this time to edit our photos and upload it on Google Maps with our reviews. Sir Avel explained to us the new points system of Google Local Guides.  You get more points now for sharing photos.  This got me really excited.  Let us just say that after that photowalk, I was able to level-up from Level 3 to Level 4 easily!

It also ended with a yummy meal from, of course, Jollibee.

Useful PhotoWalk Tips

First time to join a photowalk too? Then these tips will be really helpful for you:

1) Wear comfortable shoes

A photowalk requires a lot of walking.  Wearing some comfy shoes will be a good decision and you will thank the heavens that you did.  You will also be able to discover more areas and take photos when you will be able to walk comfortably.  P.S. Walking and high heels also don't really match.

2) Bring a bottle of water

An activity such as a photowalk will make you sweat.  If you are in a place like the Philippines, walking to somewhere, even if that somewhere is just near, will make you thirsty.  It can also be quiet hot so it is really best to keep yourself hydrated to avoid heatstroke.

3) Use an umbrella.

We did The Great Gensan PhotoWalk at around 2PM so it was a time that the might sun was at its peak. Using an umbrella during an activity like this is really a great idea.  If an umbrella bothers you, then use a cap or a cool hat instead.  Use anything that will prevent your brain from melting.

4) Get a Feel of Your Subject

I got this tip from Rain and it is really applicable to all subjects. When taking a photo, don't just go ahead and click and click and click.  Pause and take a look at your subject, in our case a building structure, and get a feel of it.  Look for unique details that deserve to be highlighted.  Look for lines as they usually are the first thing that our eyes see in the photo.

5) Think of the headroom

Back in photography class, our prof always tells us about the importance of headroom.  Until now, this rule still applies but because of different reasons. Instagram is known to crop your photos so it is now better to get a long shot of a subject and just crop it if necessary.

6) Don't use rule of thirds

That is if you do not know how.  Back in college, I was really a fan of the drama that the "Rule of Thirds" can bring to my photos. However, I have seen lots of photos who have tried this technique but failed miserably. So if you want to really make use of this technique, make sure to practice and practice until you perfect it.

So that sums up my first photowalk experience.  Do you have a photowalk experience that you want to share too? Then hit me up at the comment section.
